Statistics on unemployment in the U.S. and SLC
The 2012 presidential election focused heavily on the economy. As most Americans have been negatively impacted from the current recession, many are wondering if the economy is improving or not. Recent unemployment data sheds some light on the direction of the economy.
The U.S. unemployment rate rose to 7.9%. It has remained above 8% for nearly 2 years, but has fallen significantly from being above 10%. Utah, on the other hand, has done better than the national average. In fact, with a rate of 5.4%, it ranks the 6th best state in terms of employment. Salt Lake City is doing even better than the state average, with only about 4.6% unemployment (falling from 6% over the summer).
This means that Utah is a great place to find work. Salt Lake City appears to be headed towards a full recovery in the coming year.
